Baguio is one of the quickest respites out the bustle of the congested Metro Manila. Widely known as the “City Of Pines”, this historical city showcases a plethora of delights which made it a favorite go-to city during holidays and the summer. Being located at the roof of the Cordilleras, the city doesn’t just have the coolest temperature all throughout the year but it also has the most diverse culture in the country. It is literally a melting pot of skills, art and traditions of various ethnicity which have thrived in the pine-scented mountains of Benguet and nearby provinces even before the country’s colonization.

BAGUIO, SAGADA & BATAD BUDGET TRIP

HOW TO GO TO BAGUIO

Air travel is not an option to get to Baguio City. One can only get to Baguio by land. You can choose your own route depending on where you will be coming from.

From Manila

  • By Car – you have to pass through NLEX (North Luzon Express Way) then SCTEX (Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway). Upon reaching Tarlac City exit, turn left and drive a good 10 km more until you reach MacArthur Highway. Travel time is about 4-5 hours.
  • By Bus – you can choose from Victory LinerPartas and Genesis which have stations in Pasay City and Cubao, Philippine Rabbit, stations located in Avenida, Manila and many others. Fare as of January 2014 ranges from 450php to 460php. Travel time may take 7-8 hours depending on the traffic situation.

From Outside Luzon – you can choose to fly to

  • Manila – from NAIA (Ninoy Aquino International Airport), hop on a cab taking you to any one of these bus stations (Victory Liner, Partas and Genesis)
  • Clark – from Clark airport, you can ask to be taken to Dau terminal which is used to be the pitstop of buses coming to and from Manila. There you can choose to hop on Victory Liner, Partas, Genesis, and Philippine Rabbit buses. Fare ranges from 400php to 450php.

DAY TOUR ITINERARY

THINGS TO DO IN BAGUIO

It is always good to plan your tour to save on cost and maximize time. There are a lot of tourist spots scattered all around Baguio and the secret to exploring them all even on a limited time is to have a well-organized itinerary. Go see the spots in one go for each area. Kindly refer to my list below.

1. La Trinidad Area (Chinese Bell Church, Strawberry Farm and Flower Farm) – you can hop on one of the passenger jeeps parked near the city hall. Fare is P8.50/pax from the city to the Bell Church and another P8.50/pax going to the strawberry farm. If you wish to go to the Flower Farm from Strawberry farm then you would have to hail a cab as there is no jeep bound to that area. Fare may range from P150-P180.

2. Tam-Awan Village – there are passenger jeeps parked near Baguio City market going to Quezon Hill. Hop on one and fare is P8.50

3. Good Shepherd, Mines View Park, Wright Park, Botanical Garden, The Mansion and Teacher’s camp – you can wait for Minesview jeep passing by the Harrison Rd and fare is only P8.50.

4PMA, Camp John Hay and Panagbenga Park – take the PMA jeep parked at the eastern part of Burnham near Baguio City Plaza. Fare is 18php/pax.

5. Lourdes Grotto and Dominican Hill – take Dominican hill jeep parked near the city market. Fare is 8.50/pax

6. Maryknoll Ecological Sanctuary, Bencab Museum and Asin Hotspring – take the Asin Jeep near the city market. Fare is P15-P20/pax.

7. Burnham Park, Baguio Cathedral, Orchidarium and Session Rd – these tourist spots are within the heart of the city so you can walk your way to each of them.

8. Mt. Sto Thomas – you have to take a cab as there usually very few jeep drivers willing to take you up there.

9. Kennon Rd and Lion’s Head – take the Camp 7 jeep located at Carantes St. Fare P8.50/pax.

Note: Taking a cab is always more comfortable than making your way through a passenger jeep with bunch of people around you, but if you are looking to discover and know the city better, it is always worth it.

Hi. Since you will be going there with your family, might as well stay. In transient houses. It’s cheaper than staying in hotels. You can look for transient houses in airbnb or simply browse through facebook. As for your itinerary. Yeah will be glad to help you draft it out.

Hello, author! I am planning to go to Bencab Museum. From Partas terminal, ano po pwede masakyan papunta doon? 🙂

    • Keza M

Hi Cherry Ann. From partas, ride a cab to the parking area where jeepneys bound for Asin area are parked. Ride the jeepney and asked to be dropped near BenCab Museum. If you want to avoid the hassle, you can simply hop on a cab and ask to take you to BenCab. 🙂

  10. hello author is it accurate until present? i plan to go here with my gf on our anniversary how much was your estimated cost for us to enjoy baguio ?

    • Keza M

Hi Axle. Yes. The info is pretty much up to date. Prices have not gone up since the last time I was in Baguio in February 2016. Expenses really could vary. Depends on how long are you gonna be there, where you choose to stay and eat and what activities you would choose to do. I’ll try to write a more detailed summary of expenses so stay tuned. 🙂

If you don’t like it, along Harrison Avenue and Session Road maraming mura at magagandang hotels at inns. Ayt. Have fun you guys. 🙂
