Parasailing, also known as parascending or parakiting, is a recreational kiting activity where a person is towed behind a vehicle (usually a boat) while attached to a specially designed canopy wing that reminds one of a parachute, known as a parasail wing.

PARASAILING is perhaps one of the most expensive activities in the paradise that is Boracay. Imagine. One has to pay Php 2,200 during off peak season to experience this most talked about fun activity in the island. You’re lucky if you have someone to share the cost with. If you are a person who doesn’t mind flushing your money down the drain at any time, then you won’t find parasailing a waste of your time but if you are the type of person who always want to get the most out of every penny coming from your purse, then you might want to give parasailing a second thought.

 Or I maybe mistaken….

I might as well say that if you are an adrenaline junkie and you worship heart stopping, heart pumping adventures, then you would find overpriced parasailing to be such a bore. Why did I say so? Just read through.

 1. Shortlived Fun – What can a true junkie do in 15 minutes just to feel that heart skip a beat? Uhmm. Cliff diving? Bungee jumping? In parasailing 15 minutes is not even enough for you to appreciate what you paid for and 15 minutes is all you get. Worse, if the crew decides to pull you back a little bit earlier then there is no fun at all as it was cut right before it started.

 2. It isn’t at all scary – What’s scary about you being suspended sitting in midair supported by a harness that is attached to a chute 100 feet or so from the ground?

Nothing….

If there is, please let me understand.

 3. It’s like the movie you love to sleep through every single time – I get it, the view up there is exceptional but doesn’t it remind you of watching Natgeo on TV with your couch swinging a bit slightly to make you fall asleep. Unless your parasail gets caught in a tornado then that’s gonna be one heck of a ride.

There. I said it. This is just my point of view with no intention to hurt anyone’s feelings or seemed cocky in anyway. I still recommend you try it though and see it for yourself as nothing could be more annoying than your brain constantly bugging you whispering “What if I did it?” Scratch the itch. Throw away some bucks. Experience is all that’s worth it.

There you go lovely peeps. Do check my Boracay Budget Travel Guide to find out how you can make the most out of your vacation in the world’s best tropical island.
