Time is changing and whether or not the pandemic has played a big part in the shift but remote work has slowly taken over in recent years. Employers are now more open to the idea of their people working from anywhere than in a cubicle which often leads to unproductivity. This was further proven true during the pandemic when the majority of employees have reported to have struggled to keep it together mentally while working at home. Some have opted to go back to the office but others have chosen to work on an island or in different places for a change of scene and to destress. This shift has also given rise to short-term rentals and here are some of the reasons why I love it.

—It’s less expensive than staying in a hotel

Short-term rental prices vary depending on the length of stay which can last for a couple of weeks, a month, or up to six months. A month in a studio-type room in Siargao can cost as much as P15000 – P20000 while in Los Angeles, California, it may cost $1000. The rate depends on the location, whether it’s within an upscale community and ordinary subdivision, or an island away from the crowd, but it’s definitely less expensive than staying in a hotel that usually charges P1500/night the least.

—It has flexible terms

What makes short-term rentals an advantage to people who are always on the go such as myself is the flexibility of its terms. Whether we’re talking about payments or how long will I stay, short-term rentals are able to accommodate guests requests more often than not. This may include staggered payments, refunds, or changes in the length of stay due to changes in work demands. This is a case-to-case basis though and would still depend on the agreement you have with the landlord. Some are lenient but others are very strict so it’s best to always read the term of your lease.

—Plenty of options to choose from

When looking for rentals in famous cities such as Los Angeles, we’d pretty much end up thinking it’s expensive. After all, the state of California has one of the highest rental costs in all of the US. This is where short-term rentals conveniently enter the scene as it offers a number of good choices that are designed to suit your needs, lifestyle, and budget. Some even offer virtual tours of the property to make hunting for your next rental home easy.

—You’re not tied up to a long-term contract

As a traveler who loves to explore new places, short-term rentals are very ideal as I’m not tied up in a contract that will force me to stay in a city or town longer than necessary. I can easily pack my bags and go without a care. Long-term rentals might be a bit cheaper but at least I don’t have to worry about post-dated checks that will empty my bank account to pay a lease I didn’t even use or couldn’t use. Unless you can find someone to take over the lease for you, short-term rentals are the best way to go.

—Comes With Great Amenities

The thing that I love the most about short-term rentals is the amenities that they come with. Some grant access to swimming pools, the gym, or the daycare. Others have designated parking spaces, round-the-clock food service, and have good security. So depending on what you need or your lifestyle, you can always find a short-term rental perfectly suited for you.

There you have it, lovelies. If you’re stressed and in need of a change of environment, I suggest that you consider getting a short-term rental in a different city. Siargao and Cebu are a few of the good choices. If the restrictions ease-out then you can even consider cities abroad. Until next time. Ciao!
